Waveplates
A wave plate is an optical element, usually made of materials such as birefringent crystals. It can create a certain phase difference between the two perpendicular polarization components of light. Commonly seen ones are the quarter-wave plate and the half-wave plate. The quarter-wave plate can convert linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light, or vice versa. The half-wave plate can rotate the polarization direction of linearly polarized light by a specific angle. Wave plates are widely applied in fields such as polarized light experiments, optical measurements, laser technology, and optical communication, and are used to adjust the polarization state of light to meet the requirements of different optical systems.
