Nanosecond Lasers

  • Nanosecond lasers are designed to generate short pulses in nanoseconds. Such lasers function primarily based on the fundamental principles of fiber lasers, and feature specialized designs comprising a pump source, gain medium (fiber), resonant cavity, and output coupler, etc. The pump source supplies energy to the gain medium, inducing energy level transitions in particles of the gain medium, followed by the generation of photons. These photons are reflected and amplified multiple times within the resonant cavity, ultimately producing high-intensity laser beams. To achieve nanosecond pulses, nanosecond lasers are typically manufactured with Q-switching or mode-locking techniques.
